S1 - On our first trip to Longreach in 2013 we met "Banjo". (aka Alan Blunt, author of "Wool Away, Boy!" - https://www.amazon.com.au/Wool-Away-Boy-Ripping-Shearing-ebook/dp/B01E96DQOW)
One of our female team members was doorknocking in Longreach and found him very unwell and got him medical help. After this she stayed in Longreach for three (3) weeks and nursed him back to health. Banjo's Outback Theatre Shed became our base of operations where we conducted services for the next eight years in the Longreach Region. Banjo died last year, but his book is a living legacy to the thrills and spills of life in the Outback. He was a "character" of old Australia and a good friend of AAA . He greatly enjoyed our visits. and is dearly missed.
On a night return flight we ran into (unforcast) heavy clouds. The lowest safe altitude was 3,000 ft and we could not descend lower because of terrain (mountains) . With four of us in the plane and approaching midnight, three of us prayed while the pilot kept his eye on the instruments. Col B ( passenger and team member) called out - "hole directly below us". The pilot (David M) pivoted the plane on its wing and spiralled down through the cloud and broke out at 750 ft about one mile directly in line with the airstrip. Four very happy faces shined with big smiles that night and praised God for His care.
